Cash Assistance: Ohio Works First
Through Ohio Works First (OWF), the Logan County Department of Job and Family Services (LCDJFS) provides qualifying low-income families cash assistance, for a limited time, to help meet day-to-day expenses as they look for employment.
To receive cash assistance, all able-bodied adults must work or participate in a work-related activity. Logan County OhioMeansJobs and its partnering agencies provide qualifying work-related activities and job training programs.
Also to qualify, families must:
OWF cash assistance is available for up to 36 months. LCDJFS may grant extensions under certain circumstances.
After reaching the 36-month time limit, a family must stay off cash assistance for 24 months before trying to requalify. And when trying to qualify, the family must provide proof of a catastrophic event that prevented them from maintaining self-sufficiency.
Over their lifetime, adults are limited to a total of 60 months of OWF cash assistance.
Also to qualify, families must:
- Meet income guidelines set by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services
- Have at least one minor child, or be expecting a child in the third trimester

To prevent delays in the cash assistance approval process please bring the following to your appointment:
- Identification, such as a driver's license
- Social Security card
- Birth certificate
- Current mortgage or rent verification
- Current utility bills
- Verification of last 30 days of income
